SALES MANAGER
We are Bread SRSLY, makers of wildly nourishing, SERIOUSLY delicious, gluten-free and vegan sourdough bread in Berkeley, CA. Our mission is to reunite people with sourdough when they thought good bread was off the table. We bake thousands of loaves of bread each week and ship them all over the US to eager gluten-free eaters. As Sales Manager, you will nurture, stabilize, and grow our wholesale business. The Sales Manager will create and manage our sales strategy, own the sales pipeline from lead generation through account onboarding, and integrate growth plans with the company vision, strategic plan, budget, and operational capacity.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about Bread SRSLY and its products, and is excited to help us grow at a stable and sustainable pace. We’re looking for someone who can build structure and systems as a regular part of their work, strengthening the company’s foundation to support new scale.
This position reports to the CEO of the company, is a member of the Sales and Marketing team and the Leadership team, and also works collaboratively with Production, Operations, Admin, and Finance. The Sales Manager will manage the Sales Administrative Assistant, and may have future direct reports.
- Author and manage sales strategy
- Create and manage channel strategy
- Create and manage pricing and trade spend strategy
- Create and manage sales projections
- Develop strategies to hit projected sales, and develop long term growth strategies
- Analyze account sales and identify trends and areas of opportunity
- Analyze and report on sales performance and goals tracking
- Advise on and coordinate new product launches
- Lend expertise on DTC sales strategy
- Generate new sales opportunities
- Do sales outreach including lead generation, cold calling and nurturing warm leads
- Manage vendor samples and collateral
- Vet and Onboard new accounts
- Find opportunities with existing accounts
- Work with our Marketing team to give targeted support to accounts
- Travel to current and prospective accounts for in person meetings and research
- Lead the Sales department
- Learn and improve existing sales systems to better integrate across departments, decrease manual data entry and room for error, and function with new and existing software. Add automation and streamlining to time-consuming Account Management processes
- Transition current systems to be compatible with Fishbowl
- Develop department SOPs and handbook
- Be a member of the leadership team
- Participate in the Sales and Marketing team as a leader
- Create and present regular department reports
- Track Sales KPIs
- Manage the Sales Administrative Assistant, and manage future Sales staff, including creating team structure, hiring, training, mentorship, and vacation coverage
- Collaborate with Production and Operations
- Know logistics basics including production schedules and shipping timelines
- Participate in production planning and holiday planning
- Be responsive to production issues including modifying sales, communicating with buyers, and reporting quality feedback to the Production team

Basic Requirements:
- 3 years of Natural Products CPG sales experience, preferably in food
- 2 years of people management experience including 1 year in a remote work environment
- Experience working with Whole Foods Market, preferably NorCal region
- Experience authoring and managing sales strategy
- Experience with Google Sheets including formulas and graphs
- Experience creating SOPs
- Quickbooks Online experience
- Fishbowl experience
- Ability to work remotely with access to reliable internet
- Phone that can be reliably used for work
- Access to transportation for visiting new and prospective accounts
- Must be a California resident

Schedule: Flex time 4-day workweek
Compensation: $65,000/year
