DEMO AND EVENT REPRESENTATIVE - FLEXIBLE HOURS

We are Bread SRSLY, makers of wildly nourishing, SERIOUSLY delicious, gluten-free and vegan sourdough bread in Oakland, CA. Our mission is to reunite people with sourdough when they thought good bread was off the table. We bake thousands of loaves of bread each week, ship them all over the US to eager gluten-free eaters, and sell them locally at natural foods stores up and down the West Coast. We value organic ingredients, sustainable business practices, livable wages, fun in the workplace, and meaningful relationships with our staff, our vendors and our customers.


As a member of our Demo and Events team, you will set up, staff, and break down our display at grocery store demos, food/craft fairs, and other events while providing friendly, engaging customer service and representing our brand to shoppers. We are looking for a people-person who values community and personal connection. The right candidate will be energized by the bustle of the day, the customer questions, the friendships and camaraderie that come with working alongside other makers (not to mention the edible perks!).


Working a demo or event requires dynamic people skills, an eye for display, safe food handling, money handling and arithmetic, and the ability to stand outdoors/indoors for extended periods in any weather conditions the region presents to you. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable in many different settings, and can cope with challenges as they come while still carrying out their responsibilities.


The Demo and Event Representative will:

  • Answer questions and educate customers about our products
  • Sample gluten-free sourdough bread and talk about its many benefits
  • Establish great relationships with fellow vendors, customers and event organizers
  • Maintain food safety standards at all times and interact with health inspectors
  • Be a brand advocate and ambassador
  • Maintain an attractive display and help customers come to our table
  • Stage, load, unload and transport booth supplies and inventory in their personal vehicle
  • Set up and break down booth/table/display

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is reliable and punctual, and takes initiative
  • Has great verbal and written communication skills and loves interacting with customers
  • Is enthusiastic about quality food and eager to educate customers about Bread SRSLY
  • Has a flexible schedule that includes daytimes and weekends
  • Can work demos and events in either the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles, or Orange County, CA.

Basic Requirements:

  • Previous demo, farmer’s market, retail sales, event, or customer service experience
  • Drivers license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work partial shifts (4 hour), daytimes, and weekends
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Extra Credit:

  • Food handler or food safety manager certificate
  • In-depth knowledge of a gluten-free lifestyle/celiac disease, sourdough, or food allergies and intolerances

This flexible-hours position is designed to allow for your schedule needs. We will offer potential demo and event slots that you may sign up for as your availability allows. Available shifts will vary in length from a 4-hour demo to an all-weekend event. This is a W-2 position that pays $25/hour plus mileage reimbursements.
