Red Pepper Chicken Burgers (Gluten-Free)

Save this recipe for your next BBQ!

These burgers turned out delicious, are so easy to make (I actually whipped them up for lunch) and really come together with my fave gluten free sourdough buns from Bread SRSLY. They’re made with real, simple ingredients and are slowly fermented!

Total time: About 20 minutes active prep

INGREDIENTS

For the burgers:

1 lb ground chicken

1 tbsp Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

Avocado oil

4 slices of cheddar

Bread SRSLY Gluten-Free Sourdough Sandwich Rolls

For the red pepper sauce:

2 red bell peppers, sliced in half and seeds/stems discarded

2 tbsp mayo

2 garlic cloves

Pinch of salt

For toppings:

1 avocado, thinly sliced

Handful of fresh micro basil (or other micro greens/lettuce of your choice)

DIRECTIONS

1. Turn the grill on and, once hot, add the red peppers. Cook for about 5 minutes each side or until beginning to char. Remove and set aside.

2. Meanwhile, mix the ground chicken with the Italian seasoning, garlic and salt and form into 4 patties.

3. Rub with a bit of oil and add the patties to the grill, cooking for about 4 minutes on each side or until internal temperature is 165°. Add a slice of cheese in the last minute.

4. When the bell pepper is cooled, add to a food processor with mayo, garlic and salt and blend until smooth.

5. Slice the buns in half and toast until warm and slightly crispy, then spread the red pepper sauce on both sides.

6. Add the micro basil, avocado, burger patty and enjoy!
