Decorated Dinner Roll "Ornaments" (Gluten-Free)
These decorated dinner rolls put a sweet spin on an old favorite, and make for a fun kid-friendly holiday activity!
Total time: 30 minutes
Yields: 8 servings, 1 roll each
Gluten-Free
INGREDIENTS
8 Bread SRSLY Classic Gluten-Free Sourdough Dinner Rolls
1 cup of your favorite vanilla frosting (we like Simple Mills)
Natural liquid food coloring in your colors of choice
Toothpicks
Small glass bowls (one for each color)
A few spoons (again, one for each color)
DIRECTIONS
1. Toast the whole dinner rolls in the oven or toaster oven on high heat for a few minutes until they are firm and golden. Let cool to room temperature.
2. Place a couple tablespoons of frosting into each of the glass bowls. Add a drop or two of food coloring to each bowl of frosting and mix well with the toothpicks until you reach your desired color.
3. Using a spoon, dollop a small amount of frosting on top of your dinner roll. Mix and match the frosting colors to create a fun design on your dinner roll, and use the toothpicks to create intricate details, like a holiday wreath.
4. Enjoy!
PRO TIP: Look in your pantry for natural food dyes. We found that turmeric made a nice golden color, cocoa powder for brown, and spirulina for green!
